Events on the Isle of Wight
Little Gatcombe Farm is ideally located as a base for your visit to some of the Islands great events, whether you are crewing on a yacht in Cowes Week, or enjoying one of the best summer music festivals in Britain. There are a huge number of events taking place all year round, and what better way to visit them than staying in the peace and tranquility of the Gatcombe valley each night, and visiting your chosen event by day. We are centrally located on the Isle of Wight, Newport is just minutes away, and nowhere on the Island is more than a short drive away. - Isle of Wight Autumn Walking Weekend 2010 - taking place between the 22nd and 25h of October 2010, from the Isle of Wight Walking Festival organisers, comes the Autumn Walking Weekend. There's a choice of over 50 guided walks taking place all around the Island, including the ever popular speed-dating walk, and several spooky Halloween themed excursions all of which offer the opportunity to take in the scenic splendour as greens fade to gold.
- Isle of Wight Festival 2011 - taking place on the 10th, 11th and 12th of June 2011, this amazing festival promises to be bigger and better than ever for 2011. Check the Festival website for the latest lineup, and order your tickets early. Stay with us in the beautiful Gatcombe Valley and travel to the Festival every day - the site is only a few minutes away.
- Bestival 2011 - Offering a line-up of big music names and scene setters in a world fancy dress, packed full of surprises, secret stages, fun, and rockets. The dates for the eighth Bestival, held at Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle of Wight, are Thursday 8th until Sunday 11th September 2011. Look out for early bird tickets, this festival is always a sell out!
- Cowes Week 2011 - Since 1826 Cowes Week has played a key part in the British sporting summer calendar and is one of the UK’s longest running and most successful sporting events. It now stages up to 40 daily races for over 1,000 boats and is the largest sailing regatta of its kind in the world. Cowes Week is traditionally held during the week beginning on the first Saturday after the last Tuesday in July (except where the tides make these dates unworkable). Dates for 2011 are the 6th to the 13th August.
- Walk The Wight 2011 - Enjoy more of the fabulous scenery of the Isle of Wight and benefit our local hospice at the same time. This Walk is predominantly along walking trails including the Bembridge and Tennyson Trails. You have a choice of three distances. See the website for details of routes and sponsorship. Sunday, 15th May 3011 is the date of the next Walk.
